    Drones carrying medicines to the Ngäbe-Buglé region

    TVN and Telemetro covered the first flights in Bocas del Toro: an aircraft carries up to 3 kilos of medicines to hard-to-reach communities in the Ngäbe-Buglé region. The project belongs to Panama's Ministry of Health, working with PAHO and the Barça Foundation, and CIELUM developed the drone network.

    MWCapital Awards for the Ngäbe-Buglé drone project

    Mobile World Capital Barcelona awarded the drone project for transporting medicines and laboratory samples that PAHO and the Barça Foundation run in the Ngäbe-Buglé region of Panama. It was chosen from 17 finalists, out of 298 projects submitted from more than 60 countries. CIELUM developed the project's aerial network.

    Uruguay's first drone delivery network, told by UNICEF

    UNICEF's fund describes how CIELUM added a drone delivery module to its UTM system and launched Uruguay's first drone delivery network in Tacuarembó. On the inaugural flight, from Tambores to Tacuarembó, the aircraft carried one litre of donated breast milk to the milk bank.

    The drone delivery project for medical supplies in Tacuarembó was a finalist in the general category of the 2023 PwC Uruguay Innovation Award, presented with the support of ANII, the IDB and the weekly Búsqueda.

    Health systems that reach remote communities

    UNICEF presented the pilot linking Tacuarembó Hospital with the rural polyclinics of Tambores, Curtina and Ansina: electric aircraft, flown by trained pilots, carrying medicines, blood samples and donated breast milk, with up to 3 kilos of payload and a 100-kilometre range.

    Tacuarembó launches medical deliveries by drone

    El País reported on the inaugural flight, from Tacuarembó Hospital to the Tambores polyclinic. The hospital's director, Ciro Ferreira, explained how the delivery of medicines, test samples and breast milk works, in coordination with the Faculty of Engineering and CIELUM.

    CIELUM at the Paris Air Show

    CIELUM presented its U-Space and UTM solutions at the stand of brigkAIR, the air mobility incubator, in the German Pavilion of the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. The German magazine Drones Magazin covered the presentation.

    CIELUM at World ATM Congress 2022

    CIELUM by Dronfies Labs had its own stand at World ATM Congress 2022, the air navigation and air traffic control event held in Madrid, where it presented its drone traffic management work. Airline92 listed Dronfies among the drone technology developers taking part.

    UNICEF Innovation Fund: drone management in low-connectivity settings

    UNICEF presented the work of CIELUM, then Dronfies Labs, when it joined its innovation fund: a system for sharing real-time data, managing airspace and coordinating drone pilots in low-connectivity settings, designed for emergencies such as search and rescue or floods.
